Venetian Goblet Making & More

The class will focus mostly on goblet-making at the torch the Venetian way with Pyrex.

We will spend the first couple of hours covering the basics of point-pulling, centering the bubble, blowing a perfect sphere and then move quickly to blow, shape and open the cup with jacks. After that we will learn to set up the right shapes for a foot and learn to open it with jacks or by spinning it. Hollow stems and solid stems will be demonstrated and then assembled to create Venetian goblets. Time permitting, I will demonstrate the human form for use as a goblet stem or as a free-standing sculpted figure and other objects characteristic of the Venetian lampworking  tradition.
