Fun with Stringers (private class)

Instructor Alysa Phiel

NEW CLASS

Create the illusion of floating threads of glass within a structured pattern. This technique adds a new twist to “edge” projects, or projects that use pre-fired designs of thick glass strips set on their side and re-fired.

Students will make stringer components and plan the layout of their project before cutting the glass. Once you learn the technique, complete construction of your project during Open Studio Times.

Cold Shop Certification does not need to be completed prior to taking this class. However, certification will be required prior to being able to cold work  finish your components. Cold Shop Certification takes approximately 1 hour and costs $35.00. Scheduling can be arranged with Alysa.

Students should be able to complete two components during this class.

IMPORTANT: Workshop cost includes fusing components, use of tools, and scrap glass. It does not include glass for the project. Glass is available for purchase in the Warm Shop, or Students may bring their own System 96 glass.

PREREQUISITE: BASIC GLASS CUTTING SKILLS and COLD SHOP CERTIFICATION (for completion)
