Imago Dei Sign Unveiling // May 26

ImagoLogo_NoGrout (1024x1024)FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

DOWNTOWN MIDDLE SCHOOL UNVEILS MOSAIC VERSION OF ITS LOGO

STUDENT-MADE SIGN TO REPLACE PLASTIC BANNER ACROSS FROM RONSTADT CENTER

TUCSON, Ariz. (May 16, 2014) – Eighth graders at Imago Dei Middle School (IDMS) have constructed a four by four foot mosaic version of their school’s logo to be installed above the IDMS main entrance and publicly unveiled on May 26 at 6 p.m.. The middle school is located in the heart of downtown Tucson on Sixth Avenue between Congress Street and Toole Avenue.
The project represents months of work which took place over two semesters at a non-profit glass arts organization, Sonoran Glass School (SGS). Each of the hundreds of colorful glass pieces were cut and placed onto the sign base by eighth grade students who participated in a glass art program for schools who serve lower-income students in Tucson–funded by grants and private donations.

The public unveiling of the mosaic logo takes place in front of the school at 55 North Sixth Avenue at 6 p.m. and features student artist speakers with IDMS instructors and SGS representatives present.
