Introduction to Borosilicate:
This class is for the beginning boro worker who wants to learn the craft of flame working. Or for a previous student who want more time at the torch with more instruction.
This class is 5 weeks long which comes out to 15 hours of instruction!
In this class you will learn one handed rotation, two handed rotation and how to make a gather. You will also become proficient at making and using a punty. Learn how to stripe down color, how to ‘read the heat,’ how to create hot seals, and how to make small sculptures. You will also learn about special tools, and how to set up a studio in your own space.
Some projects may include: mushroom pendants, jellyfish pendants, implosions pendants, fish sculptures, marbles and more. No experience required to take this class.
Session I: April 10, 17, 24, May 1, 8, 2018 | Tuesdays | 5:30PM-8:30PM
Session II: June 5, 8, 12, 15, 19 | Tuesdays or Fridays | 5:30PM-8:30PM
There is a $70 material fee for this class.
This class requires protective eye wear which will be provided by SGS. All students must wear close-toed shoes and cotton clothing is recommended.
After your first class you are welcome to sign up for practice time during our discounted open studio times on Wednesdays from 5PM-9PM and Thursdays from 12PM-4PM.
Class is subject to cancellation if minimum number of students is not met.
