Glass bead winding (Lampwork) is a worldly art form that traces back to approx. 3,000 BC. Use a propane/oxygen torch and rods of colored glass to create a variety of beads. This class will focus on using Effetre, a traditional Italian soft glass, used to create mandrel-wound beads.

Learn basic techniques such as: How to wind glass onto a stainless steel “Mandrel;” apply dots; pull stringers; create simple latticino cane; and various other decorations. Students will also explore techniques in heat control as well as how to properly manipulate the glass in order to avoid pointy bead holes. No prior experience necessary.
