This course is an thorough introduction to the fundamentals of furnace glassblowing. Learn and practice essential movements such as how to gather glass from the furnace, how to blow a bubble, and how to shape hot glass.

 

By the end of class, students will have made 2 to 4 small pieces and gained an understanding of the fundamental properties of hot glass.

 

This class completes the prerequisite to take all courses in the Beginning Glassblowing Series, including paperweights, cups, cylinders, cones, and more.

CLASS NOTES
PRECLASS LECTURE: There will be a 30 minute lecture regarding the history of the American Glass Studio Movement, and the important artists within that movement, at the beginning of class.
