Adding designs to the surface of your glass is easy with the Stamping on Glass and Fossil Vitra techniques. During this workshop students will learn how to apply graphic images onto glass using powdered enamels, Stamping Medium and rubber stamps. This class will cover the proper techniques for mixing enamels, transferring the enamel onto the rubber stamp and then from the stamp onto the glass. To further embellish the pieces, students will learn how to apply mica powder over the stamped images. Students will create multiple stamped pieces (2″x6″ and 2”x4” approximately) that will be fired and incorporated into their class project and/or future projects. Information on using low and high fire enamels and firing schedules will be discussed in class. Whether used in jewelry, mosaic pieces, stained glass or large fused pieces, Stamping on Glass will add a unique beauty to your projects. The Fossil Vitra technique will also be covered. This technique leaves (no pun intended) beautiful fossil like images on your glass. There are definite tips and tricks that will make you successful with this technique. COE 96 will be used in class. Each member of the class will create a large square bowl.
This class is geared towards semi-experienced students. Material costs are not included in price. Registered students in this class receive 20% off material purchases! Glass cutting tools will be available for students to use at SGS. A NIOSH approved particulate mask (for use with powders and mica) is required. Masks will be available for purchase during class if needed.
