Introduction to Borosilicate:
This class is for the beginning boro worker who wants to learn the craft of flame working. Or for a previous student who want more time at the torch with more instruction.
This class is 7 hours long with a half hour break for lunch.
In this class you will learn one handed rotation, two handed rotation and how to make a gather.
You will also learn how to make and using punties (cold seals) and hot seals. Learn how to stripe down color, how to ‘read the heat,’ how to create hot seals, and how to make small sculptures. You will also learn about special tools and studio setup will be discussed.
No experience required to take this class.
Material expenses are not included in the class price. Material fee is 25.00 for this class.
What to Wear:
Cotton or natural material tops and pants. Long pants are preferred. Close toe shoes. Hair pulled back. We have all of the tools you will need to start your journey with flame worked glass beads.
After your first class you are welcome to sign up for practice time during our discounted open studio times on Wednesdays from 5PM-9PM and Thursdays from 12PM-4PM.
Class is subject to cancellation if minimum number of students is not met.
