Melting and Making with Recycled Glass
$650.00
Participants will go on a journey of recycled glass melting. The workshop will begin with melting and working with bottles of various colors. We will note the working qualities and begin to add additives to the recycled glass to change its workability and expansion. We will attempt to adjust the recycled glass to fit a 96 studio glass! We will explore how additives affect the working properties and color of recycled glass. Students will learn how to gauge and adjust the expansion of different glasses. This workshop is perfect for intermediate to advanced glassblowers who are interested in the chemistry of glass and process of reclaiming recycled glass to create blown glass artworks with.
