Furnace Glassblowing I (ART 265)

Build a firm foundation in furnace glassblowing through our most comprehensive Hot Shop intensive. Furnace Glassblowing I is a three month course designed to turn true beginners into confident intermediate students of this glass art discipline. Pima Community College Students may receive credit for this class as ART 265 through the PCC*.


Learn to properly gather glass from the furnace, blow effectively into the pipe, and how to shape hot glass through accurate bench and tool use.

Our class tuition is in addition to PCC tuition.
Students will begin by learning to make simple blown objects and progress to intermediate level blown forms. This course will focus on: safety and basic techniques in molten glass, design principles, proper tool usage, color application, working in teams, applying bits and handles, cold working, and sandblasting. No prior experience required.
