Elaine (‘Wee’Lainy) is from Scotland and has been lampworking since 2009. She has a background in Genetics with a PhD in Microbiology and began glassblowing at Sonoran Glass School while working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the U of A. Elaine takes alot of her inspiration from nature (e.g. sealife, flowers, desert landscapes and sunsets). She is drawn to borosilicate glass due to its reactive nature and the delicous color palette that can be acheived through control of heat and flame chemistry.
The learning process is a constant and both challenging and satisfying. Mostly known for her vibrant and detailed jellyfish, she finds glass a constant learning process and has recently began some sculptural works.
