Cold Shop
In a cold shop, artists use various tools and techniques to finish, refine, and sometimes even create new works of art from glass. A cold shop is worked on after it has cooled and solidified. This is in contrast to a hot shop, where glass is worked on while it is molten.
Cold Shop Equipment
Our Cold Shop features a belt sander (4″ x 106″), single arbor grinding lathe, two lap wheels (20″ and 24″), wet saws, ring saws, large sandblaster, and small engraving tools.
Cold Shop Rentals
The Cold Shop is available for experienced glass artists to cut, polish & finish their art glass. One-hour deposit required and balance due at end of session. It is not exclusive use of the shop, there may be other people using the space.
In order to use the equipment in the cold shop, all students must be approved by SGS staff. First time renters of the cold shop are required to complete an orientation.
