Sand Casting Workshop
January 27th & 28th 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Instructor: Jason Marstall

In this hands-on class, you’ll create unique glass pieces by pressing impressions into damp sand to form molds, which instructors will help you fill with molten glass. You’ll craft at least 4 pieces, each no larger than 6x6x2 inches. Be prepared to get dirty! No previous experience necessary.

What to Expect:

• You can bring your own objects or choose from a selection provided by the class. Be mindful that objects should not have undercuts (parts that would make them difficult to remove from the sand) and should be no larger than 6 inches in any dimension.
• You’ll be making pieces with maximum dimensions of 6x6x2 inches each.
• This process involves a lot of sand and handling the molds, so wear clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty.
• Once the glass is poured, the pieces will need to undergo a slow cooling process. This can take time, so your pieces will be available for pickup one week after the class.
