This historical photo presentation by Henry Halem, Glass Artist and Prof. Emeritus, Kent State University, traces the demise of the American glass factory to the rise of the American art glass studio. Glass artist Henry Halem was present at the birth of the American studio glass movement and also one of the founders and first president of the International organization, Glass Art Society. 

Halem was Harvey Littleton’s personal assistant at a time when Prof. Littleton was introducing glass blowing to the American university art school
curriculum. Halem is also a well known and established glass artist. His work can be found in important major collections in both the private and public sector. Some major museums where his work is collected include the Corning Museum, Smithsonian Institution, Toledo Museum, High Museum of Art in Atlanta, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and internationally in Japan, Australia, and the Czech Republic.

This lecture will be held in the Stonewall Foundation Community Room located in the Alice Chaiten Baker Center for Art Education, which is located at the corner of Telles Street and Meyer Avenue.
