Shake Your Glass — May 29

Shake Your Glass March 2015 (70) (800x535)Get together and enjoy impromptu glassblowing, torchworking, cold beer (BYOB) and live music. We invite you to come celebrate a love of glass art and creativity with us. General public welcome.

What’s new for this Shake Your Glass?

  • Glass Game Show: Two teams of two answer glass and general trivia. Will you be picked?
  • Hot Shop Pressure Competition: “One Reheat Challenge” – Use your one reheat wisely glassblowers and try and make the most interesting piece.
  • Flame Shop Pressure Competition: “Build a Totem, Team Challenge.” – Up to four people on a team, collaborate on the spot to make the best totem in 60 minutes.

Beginner’s Only Time is a 30 minute time slot where newbies can try gathering and shaping glass alongside experienced instructors in the Hot Shop and Flame Shop.

May Raffle prizes including a Make Your Own experience for two and an item from our gallery.

What Can You Do at Shake Your Glass?

Grab a Blow Pipe – Hot Shop holes will be on throughout the evening and open to anyone with some glassblowing experience. This is your chance to experiment and collaborate with other glass artists of all skill levels in a fun, impromptu atmosphere.

Light up a torch – Grab a place in our torchworking studio the Flame Shop and work solo or with a partner and create awesome collabs. This is a great opportunity to mix ideas and techniques with other glass artists of all skill levels in a free-style format.

 

BYOB- Bring your own beer. Please be responsible.
NOTE: SGS reserves the right to refuse use of our studios and services to anyone.

Hang Out – With live music, and hot glass, and cold beer this is a new opportunity to bring glass artists, enthusiasts, and the local community together to make and appreciate glass art…or to simply have a really good time! See you on the last Friday of the month.

 

RaffleWin Raffle Prizes and Compete Against Friends – Your entry automatically enters you into a raffle for a gallery item or a Make Your Own Experience for two (up to $140 value). And artists have a chance to win bragging rights with studio competitions and a new Glass Game Show.
